Danish modern metallers MNEMIC have entered the Antfarm studios in Aabyhøj, Denmark with longtime producer Tue Madsen (BEHEMOTH, THE HAUNTED, SICK OF IT ALL) to record their 5th yet untitled new album.

The band issues the following update:

One week ago we entered the Antfarm Studios, right before the black metal winter kicked-in, here in Scandinavia. It’s an awesome and great feeling being back with our friend, uncle, buddy and long time producer Tue Madsen, working together on a new Mnemic album. More the fact that we all are gathered in the same house (with dogs, girlfriends and homies we haven’t seen in a while) it makes it all like one big happy family.

We’ll try to keep you all updated as much as we can, with some video footage from our workspace. So far we’ve tracked the drums, we are on to the guitars at the moment, later on the bass, samples and you know the rest…Furthermore we have some working titles for some of the songs you can check out right here:

EMPTY PLANET
HAVEN AT THE END OF THE WORLD
VALVES
BLUE DESERT IN A BLACK HOLE
TRANSCEND
JUNKIES ON THE STORM

If you specifically want to know something about our recording process, post a comment on the Mnemic Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/mnemic), and we’ll try to include it in the next video blog. Stay tuned for more these coming weeks!

From the Mnemic camp we salute ya’all!

With the release of last years SONS OF THE SYSTEM, Danish modern metallers MNEMIC, have undergone quite a few changes. Keeping quiet, doing only select shows in 2010, the band never toured properly, and never discovered the demand for their style and music. Today, the band is praised and being recognized as part of the DJENT music scene, a genre created by the polyrhythmic pioneers of metal, Meshuggah.

After turbulent period and a new line-up, the band is infused with a new set of energy and inspiration, in order to release a new album and ride the road again!

The band will enter the ANTFARM STUDIOS in February 2012 with longtime producer and good friend Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, BEHEMOTH, ROB HALFORD, SICK OF IT ALL) to record their new and yet-untitled album. The release is set for June 2012, through NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS (http://www.nuclearblast.de/en/).

Watch this space, and see you all next year!

The circumstances are different now than what they where one year ago in the MNEMIC camp. After playing for 10 years, times do change, and some members of the band have started taking different paths in their personal lives. The first change started with Tomas ‘Obeast’ Koefoed leaving the band, being replaced by Italian bass player Simone Bertozzi (EMPYRIOUS, MODERN AGE SLAVERY). Simone has been playing some shows with us and has actually been with the band since Tomas left back in March/April. The second change, due to personal and musical differences, we have also decided that it is best to part ways, with both Brian ‘Brylle’ Rasmussen [drums] and Rune Stigart [guitar].

“Like any relationship, there things that are impossible to work out, and we are extremely sadden by this situation, but there is nothing else to do than to take a step into a different direction. We wish our brothers all the best for the future, and we hope to see them soon again in their own musical and artistic endeavors. Their replacement will be found in the two new members Victor-Ray Salomonsen and Brian Larsen from Danish tech act VIRA.

MNEMIC 2011 is:

Guillaume Bideau – Vocals
Mircea Gabriel Eftemie – Guitar
Victor-Ray Salomonsen – Guitar
Simone Bertozzi – Bass
Brian Larsen – Drums

Commented guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie: “We’ve been together for a long time, and I am sad to see the guys not being there anymore, as we once used to. We were not able to work as a unit anymore, due to many reasons, being personal and even logistical. That is why we have chosen to part ways. It has not been easy at all, since lots of turns have taken place in our personal lives and, unfortunately, this has been the only solution. It’s been a spirit-crusher for me, not being able to create music, being creative and share the passion we once used to have. The band needs to tour a lot more, go to places we haven’t been, play for audiences that crave the music we make — and this is exactly what we intend to do with a new lineup. Apparently there is still a demand for our machine, and we are grateful for that. Therefore we are now reloading it by making a new album to be released in 2012, followed by an intensive touring schedule.

“See you all very soon in a not so distant future, over the rainbow…”

Added vocalist Guillaume Bideau: “Obeast in April and now Brian and Rune are not part of the band anymore. It’s a very weird feeling, because a band, as often said, is like another family to you. It will be more than strange not to see their faces anymore on stage, in the rehearsal, in the studio and in all the other places we were used to share together. But we’re still friends and that’s the most important.

“We cannot look into the past, we have to be moving forward.

“I think this new line up is the best we could have and Simone, Victor and Brian are great, creative and dedicated musicians. On top of that, they are great guys, so it could not be better.

“Today MNEMIC’s face on stage is different — but what are we here for!? To play some fucking metal and kick some asses! And this will not change, I promise.

“See y’all next year!”

Bassist Tomas ”Obeast” Koefoed has decided to part ways with danish/french ”Future Fusion Metallers” MNEMIC:

”It’s time for changes and towards fans of MNEMIC I’m sad to announce that I have played my last shows with MNEMIC in Spain in March. Because of my forever continued dedication to music and metal it has not been easy to make my decision to leave a great and innovative band like MNEMIC after 8 succesful years with 4 releases.

Personally I don’t feel my ambitions are fulfilled in MNEMIC anymore and I wish my brothers and friends in band and crew all the best for the future. It has been some amazing years in many ways and I’ve learned a lot about myself and the music business, about what to do and what not to do. We have moved fast and achieved a lot in a short time with our music and concepts, toured and become friends with some of the greatest bands in metal, but I feel my cooperation with the band has peaked. This is NOT the end for me in metal and hopefully soon I can announce myself in another ambitious project. I have good people working with me and I have now officially signed up and put myself available as live/touring and studio/session bassist, so see you out there, anywhere, everywhere. My very own new website will be announced soon, so stay tuned. Thanks to all my fans for your support over the years and in the future! – Horns! Beast”

Commented the band: ”Sadly and unfortunately all things do come to an end. Compared to others, our line-up has been quite stabile for some time, but now it is time to part ways with our friend and brother, and take a step into a new direction. It was awesome jamming with the Beast, as always, and our split is totally mutual as friends and compadres. We wish him the best for his future endeavor and hope to see him on stage again!

To complete the groups line up, we are as of now seeking a replacement. If you are interested in taking over the bass duties, throw us an email with your info (age, experience, gear, photo etc) at: neurotic@mnemic.com. In the meantime, we have commenced composing the fifth album, to be released in a not so distant future. Thanks for your patience and looking forward to be seeing y’all out there!

It’s been a while since we have updated this space, and for that we are terribly sorry to keep you in the dark.

For some of you who have been following Mnemic for a long time, you might have noticed some unfamiliar faces in the lineup during the festival season of 2010.
Due to a tendonitis surgery, Rune Stigart, was forced to sit out on a couple of festivals, and has been replaced by the bands touring guitarist Victor Solomonsen.

Furthermore 3 weeks ago, unfortunately bassist Tomas “Obeast” Koefoed had an accident, wherein his index-finger got caught and crushed by a hydraulic pump. The power and pressure of the pump crushed his bone and damaged a nerve, and has now made it impossible for him to play his instrument for an undetermined time. This is one of the reasons that Mnemic performed in Ukraine, at the Global East Fest, without a bassplayer, without Tomas. We are all very sad about this situation, especially Tomas. Our thoughts and hearts are with him, and we wish to see him recover and back on stage asap, where he truly belongs.

On another note, we have been planning a European tour for November and December, but due to circumstances beyond our control it’s with heavy hearts and deep regrets that we are being forced to cancel, due to the above mentioned problems. To anyone who have been looking forward to be seeing the band, we are extremely SORRY(!!!), but we promise we will make it up to you again in 2011, as we will reschedule the tour.

Stay tuned for news and updates.

Howdy folks!

Its been a while since we’ve updated this space, and there are many reasons for that. One of them is mainly because there are other sites out there, like Facebook, Myspace etc, that are faster at channeling information. We chose to use those sites for a while, but now we are back with a brand new website, all thanks to our webguru Simon Bondar from Imperial Industries.

Enough about the age of information overload, here’s what we have been up to lately….
As many of you have probably noticed Mnemic have toned down the touring activities. There are again many reasons for that, but we promise that there WILL be future touring activities. We are looking very much forward for this summer, doing some festivals and also enjoying some time off with our families.

….and speaking about festivals, Mnemic will NOT be performing at the Mammothfest in the UK as announced on the festivals website www.mammothfest.co.uk.
The reason is simply this: Mnemic have never confirmed this performance.

Keep an eye out on our social networking portals, and remember to buy some merch from our new store!
